Hello there. I'm so glad I found this site!
I've had my snake Rosey for almost a year now and I don't know anyone else in Santa Barbara that owns snakes, so when I've had a question I've usually read up on snakes, or, for my really unusaul questions, I'd ask the folks at the pet store.
Rosey is an albino corn... but I think "she" might actually be a he. I can't get used to the gender pronoun switch and the name "Rosario" though.
Okay.... so here's my question: Rosey hides.... a lot.
I hardly ever catch her out. She likes to hide under the paper towels I use for substrate.
Is this normal? Is she out and about when I'm sleeping perhaps? I don't want to disturb her if she's sleeping - but I usually take her out once a week to feed her and change the tank.
I read somewhere that it's best to feed them outside of the tank so they don't associate their tank with food and go to bite you when they are hungry. I take out everything in the tank, uncover her, and gently lift her out when it's time to feed her.
Rosey's never bitten me, but she retreats under the towel as soon as I put her back in the tank.
Does this mean she's just shy? Or could it mean she's scared of people?
