Small Red Bugs

On two occasions now I have noticed VERY small red bugs (1 or 2) in my vivarium.

The problem is that I am having trouble determining if they are hazardous to the snake or not.

Upon very close examination I observe no insects on my snake at all.

The bugs are not black as mites are said to be.

They are not difficult to 'squish'.

My intuition is that they are not a problem but I don't want to risk it without another opinion.

Anybody want to provide me with some insight?

I’ve been seeing similar bugs in with my snake, I have not seen them on the snake at all but have seen like 2-3 around the driftwood I had in their tank. I took out all the stuff in the tank and boiled it and didn’t see the problem anymore. Since I have taken the driftwood out and got a different branch (Synthetic not made of wood) and after a couple weeks I noticed one of those small red/brown bugs in the tank on a toilet paper roll. I looked really close at it and it appeared to have wings, it was small enough to have flown in through the top screen. If anyone has any information on whether these are a hazard to corn snakes or how to get rid of them it would be greatly appreciated. Again I’ve only seen like 2-3 and have never seen them on the actual snake.

Thanks

In England we have these little red bugs (don't know what they're called, sorry), that are about the size of a grain of sand if not smaller. I see them all the time in warmer months in the garden and at work. Just an idea, but maybe with the warm weather gone they're coming inside. Maybe...:shrugs:

I know the ones you're talking about slither...I had pictured something differant, but you could be right. Also, unless I'm mistaken, aren't some wood mites a red colour? :shrugs:

The bugs don't seem to be harmful. I haven't seen ANY on my snake and the don't seem to be very hard to kill... there certainly aren't many of them.

At this point I'm not concerned but I thought I'd see what you all thought.

Only reason I brought up reptibark was because I have heard alot of people on these forums say they have had woodmites all over their vivs from reptibark.
