hi i just got my new corn snake last weak he was fead 3 day ago and every time i go to pic him up he backs up to the corner i have had him out once or twice and he was great and scine iv fead him every time i go in to pic him up he backs up to the corner of the tank and striks at me but he have not had me yet can any one help me or tell me what it feels like to be bit :sidestep:

No Worries. It doesnt hurt at all to be bit by a young corn. You will barely feel a thing. Generally they will just "tag" you real quick as a defense mechanism.
If your snake does bite, just keep holding him till he calms down, so that he will not think that by biting you , you will let him go. Its a conditioning we must do with some young ones then they just get over the idea and calm down when they are more accustomed to you.

As I said , it doesnt hurt at al so dont worry and try not to be scared of your pet.

It depends on the size of your snake. If it is pretty big, it feels like someone pinched you with their fingernails. If it is pretty small, it doesn't feel like anything. The impact feels like someone tapped you lightly with the eraser end of a pencil.

Here's a bite from a 2.5 footer, didn't feel a thing. I thought he just head butted me. Wasn't till after I got him into his feeding tub that I noticed the blood. It's really no big deal. :wavey:

Welcome to the site!

No worries about snake bites. I've been bitten by a 5-foot adult snake which hung on to me for almost five minutes, and although there was a little pain, it was definetly nothing I can't handle if it were to happen again. The marks were gone within a week... so there is certainly nothing to fear from a little baby! :wavey:

I havent been bitten by my corn, but when I was helping out in the pet shop I had to handle the baby rat snakes, and they bit like crazy until they were back in the cage. Couldnt feel a thing when they bit me, it was actually cute to watch thing striking :grin01:

Dont worry about it, like everyone here said. Your probably expecting it to hurt a lot more than it will, once he bites you and you realise what it feels like, you'll have no fear

bitten

My new corn is pretyy docile about handling so I have not been struck only close when not getting my hand away from food quick enough LOL

But I was bit my Friends King Snake once.
I was I hay um lady your snakes biting me reched out with my other hand hand took him off.

I laugh at her after wards cause she thought I broke its jaw and flipped out I explained the whole snake jaw thing to her and told her being a snake owner she should know these things that and not to talk with yer hands while holding a snake. Poor things view was that my ring finger was a pinkie she was trying to get it to eat by waving her by it.

The only reason I knew it was biting me and not just touching me was I lokked down and it was still clasped on to my ring finger LOL.

My Leopard Gecko bites worse and then only when motor bikes drive by, long story.

I have been bitten by a small corn, he thought he was pretty tough. But I have never been bitten by a full sized rat snake. I am getting one in a few days and I know he is a biter. I wonder what that will be like lol.
Just remember, if he ever bites you, and he clings on, don't rip your hand away, you might break some of his little teeth.
Good luck! :wavey:

Having been bitten by my large cockatoo, I aint scared of no snake lol!

(but i don't have said snake yet so we'll see...)

Quick question on the whole biting and teeth topic... how many teeth do corn snakes have? I think I read like 6 teeth or six rows, I'm not sure but hopefully someone could answer for me.

I just put my baby corn back in his tank, he only tagged me once, the first time I went to grab him on the first day (I didnt give him enough time) but I had to change the substrate, long story, but anyway, now day 6 he's doing better. Every day I take him out he get's used to me more although either he is or I am clumsy as he likes to fall, but I always catch him, and just in case I'm always standing above my bed but it's like he doesnt really wanna grip onto my fingers the little momo. He has at times but never stays gripped on good enough when he wants to get a view. Any input on this?

Yep, nothing much to worry about, i've just been tagged for the first time by my 04 stripe & it doesn't hurt really, just gives you a shock as it shoots past the rat & grabs your digit...... :grin01:

he bit me!.. awwww cute!

My son was bitten by our snake when he was taking it out of it's feeding container. He said "he bit me!.. awwww cute!" He loves him even more now because he truly knows there was nothing to worry about. Didn't hurt at all.
