is it normal for a corn snake to burrowi nto the aspen and stay there like all the time? i have an under the tank heater and a red heat light a hide in the heated side and plants on the cool side but he doesnt use them at all he just burrows into the aspen and hides there....is this normal or is he stressed or something else??? :shrugs:

i thinks its normal, my eastern milk and my amel did it, how many hide do you have? i notice when i put them in there (i think my viv was too big for them) they when staight to burrow but if i put them near there hide they went in it. and i dont think you should have any kind of heat on the cool side (i think) just a hide or 2 and put paper towel or newspaper under the substrate over the heatpad so that ur corn doesnt get burned. hope i helped

Burrowing seems to be a little more common for hatchlings (hatch - a year) in my collection but certainly not limited to.

Dont worry

I find it normal for your corn to burrow, I have a hatchling that burrows constantly and disappears for days on end. I also think it might try to escape from the heat lamp and hearting pad because they are cold blooded and this is the only way they can regulate their digestion.

So yes I would say it is completely ordinary and there is nothing wrong, I even think when the snake burrows it is having fun and playing like a game.
