Snake Cave hide ?

Let me guess,,this product is also NO GOOD.It came with moss.Should this be in there at all times ?

I use the snake cave hide. Mine didnt come with moss though. Moss is okay, I sometimes use moist moss for them when they are in blue.

Is this the hide you are thinking of? If so, then this is what I have.

Hagen Reptile Cave

Or is yours the one with the hole in the top that they can crawl into? Those are cool too, Its just that they will probably outgrow it pretty quickly.

Nope,,I bought the one that looks like a rock with a hole in the top :eek1:
I guess I'll be returning that one TOO.

I don't see any problem with cave/rock hides personally. I love cave hides and so do my snakes. My two are always in their caves.

there's nothing wrong with cave hides. i put spaghnum moss in mine, they like to burrow in it. and i wet it down for them to create a humid hide for shedding.
the only thing you have to look out for is that you dont put the cave hide over the warm side. it can create an oven affect. the temp in the cave can get much hotter than the outside.
also, make sure the hole is big enough for your snake.
i have the zoomed reptishelters and my snakes love them. http://www.zoomed.com/html/forest_furniture_moss.php

Hides are great!

I have a "cave" in my bigger snake's cage and he LOVES it, he's always in there!

I use Toilet rolls for my littly guys! They just love curling up in those things! It's a cost effective way to give them the shelter they need and they really seem quite happy with them! :)

I wasnt saying that they were bad. As you can see, a lot of people use rock/cave hides. All I was saying that your snake will eventually outgrow it, but it will probably be a good year or more if your snake is a hatchling.

That depends on what size you got. If you got the large one, the snake shouldn't have a problem with it, even as an adult. If you got one of the smaller ones, yes, the snake may outgrow it, but then you'll already have it for your next snake.

"next snake",,thats a good one BeckyG,,but, you could be right.I believe my wife will finally get over her fear of snakes.Maybe she will want her OWN.
She did get her self a hamster, after seeing how cute the one I got my daughter was,,but it was short lived. We put them together to see if they would be friends, and my daughters tore hers to pieces.Messy,messy....
Hey,just kidding,they got along fine.
Back to the rock hide,,I bought the medium size.It seems to be pretty good size.I could see an 18" to 24" or better fitting in it.
Time will tell.

I have a roughly 24" snake and he's still using his small den and small rock hide (the one with the hole on top. I also have a paper towel role suspended in a moldable vine that he likes hanging out in every once in a while.
