Owned by Corns since 1991
I do "mass sell" all of mine to my local reptile store. Finding individual buyers - or even free homes - for 60-90 snakes per year would be a more than full-time job for me. I think it's probably unfair to target all hobby breeders who sell to shops.I believe a responsible breeder of any animal will do everything in their power to place their animals in caring homes, not mass sell to pet store or ship to who ever has a pay pal account.
Look at all the animals in shelters, including snakes. Corns can be bought for $5 at shows and craigslist is full of freebies. Before long corns will be like iguanas, disposable pets that people won't care for right or seek vet attention for.
The shop I sell to ensures that they sell on at the kind of prices that won't reduce Corns (or any of their animals) to being disposable pets. They also won't sell to anyone they deem incapable of caring for an animal (I've seen them send people away empty-handed). For those reasons, I also think it's unfair to suggest that selling to shops will lead to snakes being uncared for and left without appropriate vet care.
A good reptile shop or dealer can be an entirely appropriate and responsible way to sell on multiple snakes.
But then i guess I would say that, wouldn't I!
