I just got a new corn he is like a foot long. I already wasted 3 pinkies on him and he just ignores it. His encloser heat is around 83-89 degrees.

Snake not eating..

And i want to know what to do to make him eat. thx. sorry for double post. cant find edit buttom.
First off, if you just got him, he probably needs some time to adjust to the new environment (5-7 days at least). Second, did you ask the previous owner/petstore/breeder when he last ate? He may not be hungry. Also, if he is 3 feet long, pinkies are more than likely too small for him, he may just not be interested in them (some larger snakes will be, some will not---my adult amel loves them, but my others just ignore them). Try the search function to get ideas on how to get your snake to eat, there are many ways that work (eg. exposed brain, scent transfer, bait & switch, pinky wash, etc.). Additionally, (maybe they published the article just for you :grin01: ) the current (most recent) issue of Reptiles Magazine (Nov. 2005 with the fire salamander on the cover) has a good 10+ page article on "25 tips to get your new snake to eat". How old is he? not sure, owner said only a baby lol

Give him a bit of time to adust to his new home, sometimes it takes a week or so. I would also only attempt to feed him every few days.
Take a warmed frozen/thawed pinkie and put it in a deli cup or small tupperware container, put the snake in the container with the pinkie and leave them in a quiet dark area for a few hours (or overnight). If he doesn't eat, wait a few days and then try again. If after several tries he's still not eating, then I try braining the pinkie, if no luck with that my 'last resort' is to try a live pinkie, but I always let a few days go between attempts and try each new step a few times.
Most will decide to eat...good luck with him!
Oh - also I would leave him alone between attempts...wait to handle him until he is eating regularly.

fuzzies at a foot long?
Hmmm.... I guess I'm pretty slow about graduating my little ones. Venkman (sunglow), at 22 inches, is eating 2 large pinkies per feeding. Nice bulge that way, but clearly he's ready for fuzzies. My others .... Gozer (blizzard) is just a few inches smaller than Venkman ... he could probably handle fuzzies. But ... how much bigger are the fuzzies than pinkies? My other babies are noticably smaller, and large pinkies are clearly good for them.
So here's my question .... how fast do they go from fuzzies to hoppers, and then to adults? I know ... depends on how fast they grow, body width, etc., but I need to order new F/T. I'm probably going to order from RodentPro again, so I'm thinking 100 fuzzies, 100 hoppers, and 50 of whatever is next (I don't remember the name). For 6 hungry babies eating every 7 days, and a good size freezer to keep them in, is that overkill? Right proportions (i.e., when the 6 of them are done with the fuzzies ... maybe 15 weeks ... would they be ready for hoppers for 15 more weeks?). Or maybe order more/less of the types.

7 days later after purchase: He most have settle in now? Well he is still not eating, right now as i am typing he is on a little container alone in the dark with the pinkie. I had to buy a new bag of pinkies today. last week i offerd him 5, he ate none, so wasted money.

The most you should offer is 1 every 5 days. If you constantly offer food and he refuses, then you are conditioning him to refuse everytime he is offered.
Is this your first attempt with him in a small container with the pinkie? If he doesn't eat it in 2-3 hours then wait a few days and try exactly the same thing, but this time brain the pinkie (pole a hole in its head).
If that doesn't work wait 2-3 days and I would try feeding him a live pinkie. Each time leave him completley alone for several hours in a small container with the food item.
Also, their 'natural' feeding time is around dusk so I try to feed mine in the early evening. I'm not sure that it makes a difference, but it couldn't hurt to try that as well.
I would also contact the store or person you got him from and let them know he has not eaten. Ask them what they have fed him in the past and when he last ate.
Let us know how he does today with the pinkie.
