Snakes and Red UV

I can't remember what site but somewhere had that it's better to keep corns in a darkish room and use red lights because they think it's night as they can't see the red light so they're more active - is this true? Also if it is then how does it affect them if you suddenly bring them into the light?

Rach:confused:

Nope, they need some form of light so that they can distinguish between day and night otherwise you would be messing up their natural rhythms.
The thing with the red light is so you could keep a light on during the night (to keep temps up) but not mess with the snakes (diurnal??) rhythms.

they do ned light in the day, but at night the red bulbs work great. because the snakes cant tell the light is there so it does not effect them and its a source of heat for em at night.

My two being in my room have light and dark - I might get a red light I dunno really, might stick with the mats because once I go into the breeding they'll be in an insulated shed so nobody will be there at night anyway
