Snakes Stolen, Killed

I'm glad they've made arrests, but to specifically exclude any animal because its cold blooded is cold blooded. I hope they are able to make changes. Washington has very tough animal abuse laws, because of an elderly donkey named Pasado who was killed in the early 90's. It's called the Pasado law. I would like to think that lawmakers will make some changes.

It just perplexes me...

how any animal could be considered "un"-torturable. In Florida they don't play. Although the plight of the Gopher Tortoise is a strange one; help one cross the street and do a year in jail, but wanna build a Super Wal-Mart on a colony....(from Mike). I remember a 17 y/o who thought it cute to put one in a 5 gallon bucket, fill it full of gas, and drop a match in. Charged as an adult, full sentence, 85% served, evaluated (every few years) for mental disorders.

Just reading about what they did to that poor burm still makes me want to throw up...but thank you for posting the update.

Someone on another site mentioned that some states may exclude reptiles from the laws because it might then be illegal to have the rattlesnake roundups!

Human beings' ability to be cruel will never cease to amaze me!

... I just don't see how any human being could live with this. Don't they have a conscience? Any feelings at all? I feel bad when I have to kill a bug... I always try to shoo them out first, but if they don't, I have no other choice... But even so, I always feel pretty bad. I would never be able to live with myself if I'd done anything like this. I'd probably kill myself.

I can't believe that reptiles are excluded. How do they manage to fool themselves that they don't feel pain? If I poke a snake, it doesn't like it; you can tell. This is on a much higher, horrible scale...

The rattlesnake roundups suck too. I read some of the article that a person on the site wrote, and I agree. If they were "puppy roundups" or "kitten roundups", people would think much differently.

I felt like crying when I read that article. I almost did.
