Snakie sneezes!

Gintha

*stretches* I'm out!
So I was holding Hunter, letting him cruise around and he sneezed in my ear! I've never heard a snake sneeze before hehe. I listened to him for signs of a respiratory infection, and theres nothing, and no more sneezing. Think maybe he got a hair in his nostril and it tickled him. Anyone else ever heard their babies sneeze?

I saw AG sneeze the other day when I had him out, but he's not exactly a baby :) . Like you it worried me at first but there were no other signs of a RI and he hasn't done it since that I've seen so . . . It was cute, kind of like when they yawn lol.

The few times that I've heard a startled or angry corn hiss, it sounded exactly like a sneeze. It was forceful and abrupt, not at all like a prolonged, "Hollywood" snake hiss. But I've heard something like it a couple of times from snakes that didn't appear agitated. :shrugs:

my snakes sneeze from time to time. they do it a lot before a shed. i think it is cute... LOL... no RI the first time i heard it that is what i thought. i brought them to a dr and he said that the shed gets tight on their nostrils and sometimes they sneeze becaise of it. and sometimes when they take a drink they sneeze because water gets in their nose...

the first time i heard Blaze sneeze i wasnt sure what was going on. then he did it again. but he was ok. i think he just got water up his nose, he had just taken a drink. i didnt know snakes sneezed!
it's really cute when they yawn. they open their mouths up so wide.

I know it wasn't a hiss out of AG because I've heard him do that! He was crawling on me up by my ear and one of my nieces ran up and grabbed him on the back. It definitely startled him and he let out a quick hiss in my ear. Only time I've ever heard him do that! Is it common for corns to sneeze when they aren't sick? :shrugs:

I'm no vet, but my guess is that it is not uncommon. I'm sure the situation is similar to that of humans. You can be 100% healthy, and you may sneeze in the presence of dust, or for no apparent reason at all. I sneeze when I first walk out into bright sunlight. I have an adult male snow that has sneezed on occasion since I got him, though I've never seen any other indication of R.I.. I thought he may be allergic to aspen/aspen dust, so I put him on Carefresh when I put him in brumation. It's definitely less dusty than aspen, though I wouldn't want to use it for all my corns (I hate the way it looks).

They have pure white CareFresh out now called CareFresh Ultra. It looks like snow. I've used if for my mice. They also have colored CareFresh as well. Pink, Yellow, Blue, Green, and Purple.
