"Sneezing" corns. What to do?

Morrison

Snakard
Here's a vid of my corn snake Viper "sneezing". One of my other corns is doing the same now...

More desciption at the right of the video.

I hope someone can help me solve this problem. :(

The video:

Snakes sneezing sometimes indicate a URI (upper respiratory infection). Sometimes shedding or really dry conditions can cause this, but I'm suspecting a URI. I would look at the temps in the viv and make sure they are OK. I would also see if your dealing with excessive humidity.

Another question that should be asked is if you are noticing any other symptoms, like mouth gaping, swelling around the neck, discharge around the nose, clicking when breathing or back arching?

In the mean time, raise the temps up. Get them in the 88F area and start using a smaller water bowl. Be careful too, because if you have any other snakes, the URI bacteria could be contagious.

Good Luck

Wayne

Since you say a second snake is showing signs too I would say it is an infection and you need to get these snakes to a vet for treatment, also disinfect all cages and equipment of any snakes you have as a precaution. Keep us posted!

Hey just going through some threads because I think one of my snakes vivs was to dry and he has some of the URI symptoms.

What does a smaller water bowl help with?

The small water bowl is to LOWER the humidity. That helps with URIs in corn snakes. Now, if they are sneezing because of shed issues (which I have read about here) then low humidity isn't good.
