SO ANGRY RIGHT NOW!

LOL thats something I wouldent even bring up to someone.
I have fed live to a fussy eater before, and I will do it again if I have to.
I just keep quiet about it so people dont freak out on me like your girl did hahaha!

Ohh come on...its a joke. Maybe it is a little rude but its funny (mostly for guys probably) and I think we all can take a joke. Sometimes you have to "train" guys and I will admit it!

Dave, I am a guy and I didn't find it humorous at all and I am sure neither did a lot of people. This is not a joke that is funny or playful on this site. Period.

As for your Ball, do not worry, keep on trying and he will eventually eat.
But what are you temps? Hot side, cold side? What is your snake's humidity?
Does he have a hide? What are his caging conditions like?
What are the temps that you are feeding the mouse? Is it a wet mouse, Blown dry?? There are no information here at all. Give us a bit of a setup and then maybe we can help you. I typically find my Royals are fussier than my other snakes. I have to make sure the mouse is just the right temp before feeding it to them. They like there food very warm, I would say my balls like their rodents around 100 degrees. Which is pretty close to a mouse's actual body temp, around 98 degrees or so.

I wasn't offended but I guess I have a sick sense of humor :shrugs:

Luke I'm curious, how do you get a live feeder in England because of the laws? Or do you just go in and ask for a pet one?

Have you tried f/t rats of appropriate size? My Son had a ball python a couple of years ago that got quite picky, then stopped eating, he was advised to try rat rat pups and hey presto good feeder again!

Might be worth a try, if you haven't already that is :shrugs:

Let me give you a little tip about how to tell whether a joke is in poor taste.

If you have to put a parenthetical explanation about to whom the joke was actually funny, and if, in that parenthetical explanation, you exclude lots of people (in this case, you excluded half the population--i.e., women), then odds are, that joke is in poor taste. In this case, my "rule of thumb" works nicely.

Ok, well I shouldn't have said that most guys would find it funny so I apologize for that. I guess it just depends on your own sense of humor. I almost never get offended and like to joke around, a lot. Don't think I am just an ignorant child, I realize jokes can be hurtful to the party it is intended to or to others. I guess I don't always see how they can be mean, but I guess its because I am 15 and everything is somewhat funny. :shrugs:

I really don't think many women without serious hormonal imbalances would be more upset over the issue of live feeding at certain points in their menstrual cycles. I do believe that at certain stages of my menstrual cycle, hmmmmmmm, ok, every single day of the month, I'd not really find it funny at all.

Okay, I am a woman and I am feeding live fuzzies to my ATB. If that is the only thing they eat right now, then that is what they'll get. The female hasn't eaten since I got her and I am will to do what ever it takes to get her to eat. My female BCA is also fussy, eats every 10 days-any earlier than that and she regurges. Right now she is using her dinner as a pillow.

My ball pythons and corns are the only ones I don't have a feeding problems with; but, if I had to feed them live to keep them alive I would.

Metal_Luke, have you tried warming the f/t up in the microwave? (Just don't tell your other half).

because its extremely dangerous to heat in microwave. It will make some parts of the mouse uncooked, and others boiling, its really unsafe.

But to all the other questions, his humidity is between 50-65% at all times, he has a hide that he loves and is isually in during the day, Temps are abit above 90 in warm end, i have tried warming mice in hot water, but not hairdryer, and i have tried differnet sizes. And im not too sure where to get rat pups from, i have looked, but to no avail. If i have missed any q's let me know.

I am actually next trying a day old chick, see if this works a little better.

And about the laws, well if he is only going to eat live, im not going to let him die. If its against the law so beit, im not letting poor kurt die.

Luke

A ball python is not going to die without eating for two months. Please do your research.

i know he wont die.

But i am worried as he is my first ball python. Just want to make sure everything is ok.

I know how that is-

Leonidas was feed only live before I got him and refused his first f/t. The second time I feed him I had to dangle the mouse in front of his hide in such a way that Leonidas could not see the tongs. He struck good and hard and eats as long as he doesn't see the tongs.

I have even squeeked like a mouse in order to entice my snakes to eat.

Right now I have Smokey and Inca who are not eating and Ashookie who is extremely fussy due to regurge.

Just hang in there. Sooner or later he'll eat.

Thanks, i have tried hiding the tongs, hes just too damn smart, lol.

But i am trying a baby chick next, see if he likes smell of that.

I love the way the tinternet can bring experience from the states, via a 57 yr old lady and impart it upon a teenage boy in the middle of England......This is the reason I believe reptiles will become main stream in the next few years....Muhahahaha...

I used to feed Smokey and Queenie day old chicks and week old quail (or was it day old quail and week old chicks ) but I switched to rats and mice because there is more nutritional value in them. His poop might be a little more runny and smelly with the bird.

One thing you can try is find someone who raises mice and get some of their used bedding. Let your f/t defrost in the bedding so the live mouse smell will be on the f/t and then try the f/t. I sometimes microwave 3-5 seconds just to warm it it; not enough to cook, just warm.
