temp in my viv has dropped from 83 (approx) to about 70! Any advice on how I can bring the temp back up? I cover the viv at night, and this stops the temp dropping even more, but what can I do during the day?
ATM I just have a UTH

hi

As much as everyone raves about under the tank heaters, I myself living in a cooler climate find they surely warm up a bit of floor but do nothing for abient air temp. Especially here in Canada.

I don't think ambient air temp should be ignored. As in nature no floor is warm while the air remains very cold, like it gets here when I use only UTH.

I have found I have to use a heat lamp with a UTH (both controlled with thermastats) when housing snakes in aquariums to get the temp proper.

yeah, i have the same problem, this is the first winter i've had my snakes and the temp in the viv gets as low as 60 in the night. The snakes sleep against the heatmat at night though so I think they will be okay.:)

I use a UTH and just a regular lamp with a 50w bulb during the day. and at night I shut off the lamp. I'm going to get one of those dark blue heat bulbs for the winter so I can keep the enclosure warmer at night. It's kinda chilly up here in Canada! Bmm, knows it!
