i was going through pet withdrawal after going off to college so i recently took a trip to the pet store and fell inlove with a snake i think that it is so pretty but i don't really know too much about snakes and need all the help i can get.

it hides alot now and isn't too active but i have to do my first feeding today so i think i may see a little more action

also a concern i have is getting it used to being held, and making sure it doesn't run away but i am wondering if it would be better to wait until it gets older so that i will be able to hold on to it better. please help me i love looking at and can't wait till it lets me hold it.

Welcome.
These are great animals. Feeding is one of my favorites (mainly because I own such piggies!).

Most corns will hide out a lot. Mostly because they are getting used to their new environment & because thats what they do :D

You might see him out later at night when you least expect it too :D

As for handling I tend to give my babies a week to settle in and get used to their new home before attempting this. My youngest boy will come over and tongue flick my fingers and then try to run the minute I grab him.

The hatchlings tend to be squirmy but just be gentle & consistent & they will calm down.

Make sure NOT to handle for 2 days after you feed them. They need time to digest & chill.

the store i got peso from said that they feed him everyweek on friday but i just tried to feed him and he wouldn't go near the pinkie and i am not sure what to do.

thank you for the quick reply sorry about the stupid question. i am slowly finding out that the little cage they gave me at the pet store is not going to work and for my snake to be happy i need to get a tank with a different kind of substrate. i will get it before i leave town...is it OK to wait one more day before i feed him because i am out of town and i had to bring it with me. i plan on getting the right tank tomorrow?

this is a great forum appreciate all of the help.
