So what DO you get when you cross a Bloodred with a (het) Volcano from Darren Boyd?

Yeah, the bellies are pretty extreme for hets, but they all appear to be "just" hets. The conclusion I'd draw from all of this is that the volcano corn is not carrying the diffusion gene.

Have you had a chance to (or do you plan to) breed two volcano corns to each other?

Well, I only have the one "het" volcano male at this point, so I have to say no. But of course, Darren Boyd would have, and it seems when he breeds them together he gets volcano babies. Lately he's been outcrossing though, I think he's working on anery and amel volcanoes, which I agree, is a very cool project.

I plan to breed the pair I kept back to each other, and then to each of the parents. I especially want to see the difference in babies between breeding this baby male to mom the bloodred, and breeding last year's blood baby to mom. I'd like to see if there's a difference in the bloodred babies that come out.

Thanks,
Kris

The Volcano het Bloodred female of mine, is growing like a weed, I suspect she will be of breeding size in 2007, but thats a long ways off. Patience is a vitrue I guess :shrugs: The Volcano het Amel female is a poor feeder so I have no idea when or if I will ever be able to breed her.
