Hello everyone, this may be a dumb question but i didnt no the answer lol. Your snake gets use to your sent so it knows its you and isnt afraid of you right? Well if that is true what if you hold your snake and it knows its you but then another day you just washed your hands and there is the smell of soap will the snake get confused and not know its you? Haha sorry if that is a wierd question but i was just curious lol.

I don't know about other people but I always wash my hands before handling Simon and I always use the same soap so he will recognize my sent.It seems to work, even when I've taken him by surprise under his hide and he appears angry, with a few sniffs of my hand he calms right down and I can handle him freely. Also when I am hand feeding him and I offer Simon my other hand he perks up like he's gonna strike but again with a few sniffs he just climbs up!:)

I'm another one that washes before and after handling one of my snakes, it's good hygiene :) I usually use the same anti-bacterial soap each time as well, so maybe they get used to the scent and learn to associate it with me not being a threat :shrugs:

I'm sure mine are picky about the soap. I always use the same one in the bathroom before handling. But if I forget and use the kitchen soap, they back away from me like they've no idea what's going on. They're definitely more suspicious of hands that smell of "the wrong soap".

If you really want to wind them up, try chopping garlic an hour or two before handling them. Mine go absolutely loopy...
