I have a water softener in my house, is this a problem giving my snake soft water (minerals, calcium, plus other goodies removed)?? If so, can i just put evian in her dish??

some water softeners are not safe for fish-keeping, they add ions to replace what they take out (vague i know, but I haven't got a water softener, and read this on a tropical fish forum) I'm not sure what type is ok, but someone here would know.

if your using a water softener i recommend that you use some type of water conditioner. i would recommend using zoo med reptisafe it will remove all the chlorine and chloramines it provides electralytes an calcium. great for all reptiles.

I agree. Water softeners only remove the calcium and magnesium ions, and then replace them with sodium ions. The chlorine and chloramines are still there.

I have a water softener for nearly the entire house, but my "utility sink" (what the washing machine drains into) has hard water. I use the hard water, and then use a water conditioner to take care of the chlorine, chloramine, and heavy metals.
