Do you keep them all together? That's a first... but man they are lovely!

My breeders are kept together all season. I pull the males when it is time to brumate. Why wouldnt you keep them together.:shrugs: How else would they breed? I have 1 male and 4 females in a 3' x 5' x 2' cage and the same in a different cage.

I'm guessing that maybe Lauren didn't know that they were kept as breeders? Idk. That's not what I thought when I saw them all together. I thought maybe they were all just living together as one big happy family! Lol!

Nice beardies, though! Thanks for sharing!

Sorry, did not know that was a breeding group. I had just never seen a "group shot" of beardies all together like that.

Here are a few pics of two of my beardies preparing to lay there eggs. The digging shots are one and the rest are a different female.

Is that peat moss? Damp? Can she get out of there? How long do you have to leave her? I've heard that you can just put them in their laying box at night- what do you do??

Yes, that is peat moss. I wet it down so that it will stick together. If it is dry they cant make there tunnels very well. If they think it will fall in they will just start a new hole. She cant get out but if by some chance she does the lay box is inside her cage so she will not get to far. I wait till the females start digging in there cage before I put them in the lay box. On some of the heavier girls you will not be able to fill the eggs so you just have to wait for the scratching to start. Most will start digging there tunnels right away but I would say that 9 out of 10 lay the eggs in the afternoon. When they are done they fill the whole back in and you would never know that there was a clutch layed except they are a little thin after words.
