Some Pics of Our Non-Corns

Mrs InsaneOne

I See Snakes...
I've devoted most of my photo threads to our corn snakes in the collection, so I thought I'd post a few picures here of our other snakes.

First up is our 5 yr old Desert Phase Cali King, aptly named Mom's Folly. He was out looking for food - so no snake in hand pics or belly shots until after he's been fed! lol

Next up is the little striped Cali king, Dolly, that I picked up down in San Diego earlier this year from Steve Little. He's the breeder that I'll be getting my trio of Potosies from later this month.

And because I have a fondness for tongue shots:

This next king snake - A San Luis Potosi - doesn't actually belong to me. This is the critter I helped my little sister to get over a year ago. She's the whole reason I am so determined to get a trio of these guys - lovely colors and a sweet disposition! If only my cali's were as nice! lol She's named Harley.

More pics to come.

Next up is Jane the Pain - My daughters Albino Nelsons Milk snake. I was weak the day we bought her. My daughter had fallen in love with her the moment she saw her and noticed the small egg shaped spot near her tail. *sigh* This critter was also purchased from Steve Little.

And the last picture of the day is one of our BP Monty - an '05 that we purchased last year from PetCo because his (or possibly her) pattern was so different then the others.

We have a second BP, but he wasn't in the mood for a photo session today. He's feeling a bit grumpy because I offered him a white male mouse for his last feeding and offended him. I'll try to get pics of him and updated ones of Monty later this week after Monty sheds. I'll also pester my sister for newer pics of Harley.

Thanks for looking.

nice!
despite not having any myself, I am a big CalKing fan :)
Thanks! They are a favorite around here too. The only king I like more is the Potosies because they don't have as much of an attitude or so I've noticed with my sister's.

Those are some gorgeous snakes! I'd really like to acquire some kings and milks. I completely understand why you did not handle the hungry cali LOL - they are grumpy when they're peckish! "Ooh, fingers - they'll do until a mouse turns up." "Hey, why is mum yelling at me?" :grin01:

I gave my BP a white male yesterday, too. He was so offended, he ate the nasty thing just to get it out of sight :grin01:

You have a great collection. I know literally nothing about kings, but that San Luis Potosi is really nice - hey, it may have converted me.

Off to google to find out more about kings,
Hannah

Love all those kings, Jenn. They're gorgeous. I don't know jack about Potosis, but that one's way-cool. I'm not really into BPs, but there's no denying that they're cool, and yours is a beautiful example.

Beautiful snakes. Funny thing, your first Cal King looks a lot like my Onyx, and my son has an 05 ball python named Monty as well.

Yes, I've seen him chase after a mouse with his mouth wide open looking for all the world like he was trying to eat the scent of the mouse out of the air before he got to the actual mouse. He likes the taste of fingers when they smell like corn too! lol

If only the one python would eat the mouse he's offered like that. No, he looks at the white mouse, looks at me, and then he reaches around to do a butt check and if he finds more then what he's looking for attached on the rear he whips around and gives me the evil eye before climbing out of the bucket! lol Stubborn snake!

Thank you! The Potosies don't all look like that, I've only seen a handful that have the creamy/pinky sort of color on the saddles/bands. I have been told that for the most part they are very calm and docile for kings too. But I'm glad I've given you something to think about - got to build some interest in them so I can sell future babies! lol

Thank you Dean! That particular Potosi inspired me to do a lot of research on them, though I still have lots more to learn. I've even spent time hanging out Applegate? (I think that's his last name - can't think of his first name) at the last handful of shows chatting about his kings and milks.

Small world eh? The hubby named the python Monty because he's big fans of Monthy Python and the other BP we have is named John Cleese for just that same reason! lol Though I call him Little John...

Thanks again everyone for the wonderful compliments! I've made sure to pass them along to each snake!

LOL. Sounds about right for a caliking! I made the mistake once of attempting to pick up a hungry kingsnake. It took me five minutes to get his teeth out of my finger.

Yeah, I've heard BPs can be ultrastubborn, but I am very lucky to have a great feeder. He'll eat every week on f/t. In fact this week he took the mouse quicker than my corn!
