I was just looking at the record of feedings that the pet store gave me with the snake and realized that they only have been feeding them once a month. Should this be a cause of concern? Should I try feeding him as soon as possible?

well i couldn't wait any longer and broke down and fed him. It only took him about two minutes to grab onto it. It was pretty scary i didn't think he would be able to swallow it and when he did i was worried that he was going to split open. Now he is stuffed and under the bedding in his tank again, i just hope i didn't push him over board with the stress of today.

Once a month!? As you've delt with the snake, I think the most pressing matter is sorting that store out so they don't go killing their animals! :eek1:

As for the stress, all I can suggest is leave him alone apart from to change his water, don't handle or look for him for a week. Then try feeding him again. Wait the 2 days for digestion, and THEN (When he's settled in a bit) you can handle him...

Good luck, hope this helps!

Once a month is a long time. Most people here feed their babies about once a week or more (up to once every 5 days), and thier adults about once every two weeks.

Like Paradox said, after your snake is okay, try to get that pet store in a better place. Make them start feeding their animals every week or two. Talk to their manager. Anything.

And if the pet store tells you that they've been giving the snakes crickets and meal worms inbetween feedings as snacks...SMACK 'EM!

Thanks for the replies everyone, I really didnt want to handle the snake let alone feed him on the first day I got him but I didnt want him to starve to death. I did make sure about WHAT they were feeding them however and they were feeding them pinkies, thank God. I will try not to handle him for a week, although it will be very hard to resist!
