I'll be getting my very first corn snake next weekend! I have pretty much everything I need except an under the tank heating pad and one more hide so I can have one on each side. I picked up a 2 night lights, mostly because I didn't know if one would be better than the other (a blue 50W and a red 60W). My question is, if I'm using the heating pad, do I need to use the heating light at the same time? And if so, do I need to use the light around the clock, or just at night time? Also, is there a preference of using the red or blue? The red says it provides very little visible light as to not disturb sleeping patterns, and the blue one says it simulates natural moonlight. Thanks!

If you have a uth with a thermostat on 24 hrs, then a heat/night light is not necessary. Good luck!

Finally! I knew they existed! Another person with my first name and spelling! I've only ever seen ay's rather than ey's.
Oh wait, Welcome! This is a good site.
What are you getting? We'll need to see a picture! :p

Welcome Lindsey! Corn snakes don't need the heat lamp/lights. They need a belly heat, which the uth will provide. The lights are more for you than them.

@Lyion We do exist! And I'm on the forum via my phone right now and will post the pic I have as soon as possible. Jasonb posted his pics that you can look at though.

@Pugsley Thank you!

@Jason Thanks for posting the pics! I'm so excited to being him home. :)
