Sorta OT: Milksnake

Milksnaker Imposterating!
Firstly thank you all for all the valuable information about your babies.

After a few weeks of reading and browsing and shopping and thinking I got my first snake today. He is a beautiful little Albino Nelson's Milk snake, about 14 inches long, and I am told about 6 months old.

Everything I have read show's virtually no differences between Corn Snakes and Milk Snakes. But I know that milk snakes are technically a king snake, which makes me wonder if any of you have any firsthand experience or comments on that.

I've had dogs and many many fish, rats, etc, and this is one of the first pets I've really felt concerned I could "mess up". But he is also one of the most interesting and fun, so far.

I almost wish I would have found some nice cornsnakes around here but there wasn't much available without ordering and waiting. (I also like to see before I commit). The local store totally sold me though when they put this gorgeous guy in my hands. :)

Anyway, thanks for comments in advance.

-Stephen

Hey Stephen! Sounds like you found a real nice snake. I have a Nelson's Albino and her care is very similar to corns. I don't have a whole lot of info for you, but would love to see a pic of her. Mine is in my album on my profile page. Her name is Cree.

Good Luck with her and I can't wait to see her,

Wayne

im not sure what you mean by there being no differences betweens corns and milks/kings, but if you are refering to their care then they are pretty much identical. And we need some pics of your new snake!

And welcome to the site!

I did mean in their care. I posted three new pictures on my profile, they show him real well. I hope to get some better ones when he's a little more settled in, and a little more comfortable being handled.

Lovely snake chia, I like the name Albert.

BTW, my boyfriend is originally from Iowa :)

Anyone who has seen the show Big Love (HBO) and is familiar with the character has seen his many sides and moods, but he is a lovable character many times as well.

Thanks. I can't wait until I can handle him a little more. I'm trying to give him his space but its torture. :)

Cute little worm, chia. I had two Louisiana Milk Snakes back in the 80's. They were so pretty and cool.

( Note : Excellent name. Incidentally, Edward Albee = Author of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and other books, plays, articles, etc. Winner of three Pulitzer Prizes.)
