I'm going to get one because I'm already having a few problems with my $30 thermostat. What did you pay for yours and where did you get it? I found one for $129, but I'd like to find it cheaper if possible! Thanks

beanfarm.com has some great prices. If you still can't find one, I may know of a slightly used one for sale. We just don't use it because there's no use out here.

Mary Beth...

I looked around a few months ago..that $129 price you found was also the best I could find. Most places were $5-10 more.

Just wondering if a regualar house heater (digital) thermostat would work. You could de-solder the temperature probe on the main board inside the thermostat, and put it on the end of a wire going to your substrate. Thats what I did with my indoor outdoor thermometer and it works. If it works with a thermostat it could save a bunch of money.

Well basically the thing on your wall that you control the temperature in your house (it turns your heater on or off) if you have electric heat that is. I was talkin about using one of those to control the temperature of the UTH only make it UTH friendly instead of House heater friendly. I will run some expieriments and see if I get it to work, and then post a thread on what I come up with. :grin01:

Check out Matt Graybeal at Justcage. He advertises everywhere and his prices generally are less than the other sources. Also, he has occasional outstanding sale prices. I've seen the bottom line dbs 1000 Helix as low as $109.00 sometimes. As well, he has excellent prices on on/off thermostats, which is what I use, and is MORE than sufficient for corns. I bought a Johnson from him for only 72 bucks. I'm very satisfied with his customer service as well. Just my 2 cents.
