it sometimes depends on the snakes. I had a amel bloodred corn female and an amel cali kingsnake male that bred fine (of course that male was such an easy breeder that he would even go after other males!). I just put them both through brumation like I normally would with corns, and seperated them afterwards like I always do. I didn't have any problems, and she had 12 out of 17 hatch and 100% of the hatchlings feed and shed. However, I put her into a different program and decided to buy an amel female cali king and breed her with one of my amel male corns. I did the exact same thing with this pair as with the last, but as soon as I put them into a bigger breeding tank together, she struck at him and would not let go. I still don't understand why she turned on him, because she was very well fed and had produced 2 clutches before by her previous owner (who was a good friend of mine, so I've known the snake for a few years), and never showed any aggressiveness to me, but since kingsnakes do eat other snakes, I haven't tried it again since. Its really sad cuz I had some awesome hatchlings out of that clutch. Unfortunately, thinking I wouldn't need him any more, I sold the male king I had used with the first clutch. Wish I'd have known then. <--- thats actually the female that produced the 1st clutch in my avatar
