Speedy mouse growth?

Crazy Critter Lady
Ok I am amazed. My mouse colony got off to a good start. The 4 I saved to raise out for a second colony of mice are now 9 days old. They have full fur and eyes are opening. This is quicker than I have heard/read. Is it because they have 3 moms to feed from instead of just one? Its cool, they are so mellow! Even more tame than their mom. I have handled these 4 from birth. I can pick them up from a dead sleep and they still don't freak and try to get out of my hand. They don't even nip at me to say "get out!" like mice I have had in the past. Maybe I just picked pups from a really healthy mom who happens to come from a really good line? I know which mom had these as her babies were born almost 4 days after the others.

My petshop has been begging me to bring in more pinks they have a high call for them right now. I hope my mice deliver again soon and that my ASFs get started. I'd like to get those Dwarf Hamsters and Gerbils I was planning for!

Anyway my question is what age do mice usually open their eyes and start moving around the enclosure? I thought it was a bit closer to 14 days?

3 weeks or so

I just checked my freezer. I messed up my written records lol, they were born the 16th not the 20th but still! Wow. I'll make sure they stay with their folks to 5 weeks to make sure they are good and healthy. Then I am putting dad with the girl younguns in a new setup and leaving the son with his mom and aunties. I figure this kind of inbreeding is better than sibling to sibling.
