Splitting a viv

I have a 50 gal viv and i was wondering if i split it in half with a board inbetween the snakes would have enough space. The one snake is a about 3 3 half feet and the other is just a hatchling. WOuld it be ok for the 3 foot snake?

Hey Jay
Sorry , can't help with your main ??? but you said your going to use a board to split viv and I was wondering if you use pleix-glass, find center & mark
outside of viv front and back(so you can clean off) and use silcone to glue both side of pleix-glass. Hold it steady with ???duck tape until it sets. This was you could still see through. Just a thought!
Good luck to you :)

If you have a 50 gallon long tank you should be able to do that. In addition, you can also buy frosted plexiglass so the snakes cannot see each other. The smaller snake might get stressed if it sees the other larger snake on the the other side of the tank all the time.

Just a word of caution: do NOT use duct tape in, on, or around the viv. If they get stuck on it, it can be very unpleasant.

:eek1:

I can definitely attest to that!! A couple of years ago, I split a viv using duct tape to anchor the middle plexiglass. Needless to say, I had a very unhappy kingsnake that was renamed 'Sticky' that very night....TOOK HOURS to get her un-stuck!! Not too pleasant, I can assure you!
