sterilite vivs

Smile, you are alive!!
Hi everybody! :wavey:

So I'm trying to set up a sterilite viv and I have a quick question... I did a search for "sterilite" and read as many similar threads as I could fine but I can't seem to find a clear answer about heating sterilites.

Is it safe to put a UTH directly onto the sterilite or is there a fire risk/chance of melting the plastic? :flames:

I saw somewhere that heat resistant plexi glass would work but I'm not sure where to find plexi glass easily (would WalMart carry it? or do I have to find a hardware store?)

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me!!

I use heat-resistant plexi-glass which I get at home depot. I wanted an extra barrier between the viv and the heat mat cause I am paranoid like that. It works really well and seems to reduce the amount of heat that could potentially burn my snakes.

It never seems to get hotter than 100 degrees, the thickness of the plexi-glass is a factor. The thicker the less heat gets through, the thinner the more heat. I still use a thermostat because 100 is still too warm for the snake. But I don't have to worry so much about a thermostat malfunction causing serious harm to my snakes.
