sterilyzing

Boiling water is the only way if you want to use water. Place items in a pot of water and boil them for 5 mins. The question is will they warp from the heat??? :shrugs:

jbkd is right, you have to boil it if you are just using plain water...wooden things are usually fine to boil, but some of the thinner plastics bowls may not handle it so well.

However if you mix you plain old water with a little bleach then you'll be in business! I think there is a "color-safe" alternative to bleach, but I can't seem to think of the name right now (long day) Nolvosan is popping into my head...any help anyone? In any case, a 10% bleach solution works wonders, and is my personal preferred method of sanitizing.

Hopefully someone will wander around and can you give a more definite/accurate name for the bleach alternative. :)

Assuming you're keeping it in an all glass viv, what i like to do is take the 10% bleach soultion and spray the glass on the inside of the viv, wipe dry, and then spray with plain water to wipe any residue or left over bleach.
