hi ive still had no luck feeding my baby corn, tried some of the ways mentioned but nothing. im really getting worried now coz its been 7 weeks since he hatched and has not eaten. how long can he go for without food? he has taken some water. should i try force feeding it now? if so, how? Thanks.

First of all, make sure you have tried several methods such as:
-braining.
-live prey.
-leaving alone in a small enclosure over night with food.
-shaking food in front of it.
-alternative food such as anole and slowly switching to mice.
-scenting using Lizard Maker from T-Rex and other products.

If everything fails then you may have to resort to force feeding. Make sure you read all the threads in this forum as many have great ideas on how to get problem feeders to eat. Remember that hatchlings can go many, many weeks without eating but you must keep trying.

Good luck,
Neil

Hey Austinpaul1,
Have you tried a live pinky? If you have try braining the live pinky. I had a tough feeder and once I did everything else I tried braining the live pinky and he went for it quicker than you can blink. It worked for me.

hey mate!
Sorry to hear you still havent had any luck i feel so sorry for you. are any of the others eating yet??
Force feeding there is this thing called a pinkie pump you put the pinki in it (like a Giant syringe) and squish the pinkie into the snakes throat (not very pleasent) but as a last resort should be tried i suppose

Twig is right, pinky pumps aren't pleasant at all. My snake was fed like that for the first 7 months of it's life! We thought she'd been turned off food forever!

Know what though? As traumatic as this was for Snoopy to go through and me to have to learn to do.... I'd do it again for her in a heart beat.

Apparently sometimes a pinky pump isn't needed though... I've heard of people just putting a pinky in a hatchlings mouth and pushing it back a little ways. Sometimes they'll get the taste and decide they like it and just keep swallowing.

I expect you'd have to be very gentle doing this though, same as with a pinky pump.
