I'm from Vermont; we ELECT socialists. Socialism isn't a dirty word to us.

But this discussion board hosts a wide diversity of people, with a wider diversity of opinions. Name-calling and inflammatory b.s. will not be tolerated.

Consider yourselves warned. Barring my removal as a mod, I'm just going to suspend those who break the rules, despite their respective opinions. Opinions are good. Breaking rules is bad. I think you're all mature enough to know the difference.

I'm with Dean 100% on this. Some of you guys are getting way out of line.

Thanks Pops. Unfortunately, Obama doesn't go far enough for me. He's too concilliatory to the powers that be. Bernie Sanders would be my choice for prez. Yeah, poor white folks who get a bleep-on from pretending they have real connections with the elite may suffer a cognitive re-adjustment, and the silly manipulated may feel betrayed. If you think that the TRUE conservatives give a bleep about you, then I think you should give it more thought.

Don't get me wrong, he was one of the best running backs in NFL history, but I don't know about president. Vice President, maybe?.:wavey:

Seriously. You're a poke KJ. A big ol' 2 gauge-needle poke. :punch: (Edited due to Deano's recent post concerning language . . . negative reinforcement or positive delinquent something or other . . . either way, I fixed it to avoid the wrath of Deano once again.)

I hear you Dean. Listen, while I have your attention, to avoid negative reinforcement, I feel like we need to discuss your language.

Can you clarify? Do you mean that we are barred from talking about any and all politics or that the "Name-calling, Inflammatory B.S. or Inflammatory Post Reporting (because the political view is different then your own)" needs to stop?

Thanks for your time,

Wayne

LOL. I am not "above the law.". If I were to be given a 5-year suspension from the site in general, or a mere suspension of my awesome mod powers, i'd accept either with humility and complete lack of concern. I wouldn't miss the myriad spam reports nor the "he was mean to me!!11!" reports.

I don't make the rules, Wayne. I only enforce them. Read them. If your next post, or future posts don't comply with the rules, then accept the consequences. You haven't been problematic so far.

I had a BS before I got MS (more of the same). Now I'm going to get a Piled Higher and Deeper.

I have! Way back when I first signed up. Rules!

If your next post, or future posts don't comply with the rules, then accept the consequences.

Something I may have to work on! :nyah:

Here are a few excerpts from the rules thread:

Great place to post anything "NON-CORNSNAKE" related!

3) GENERAL CHIT-CHAT FORUM - This is a CORNSNAKE site. Please keep all the non-corn related threads in this sub-forum.

Attack ideas, not people!

7) CROSSING THE LINE - Members who let disagreements get out of hand, post inflammatory responses (personal attacks), or use foul language will receive a 3-Day ban from the forum. This is a time to cool down, collect your thoughts, and come back and become a valuable contributor to the community. If it happens again, you will receive a permanent ban. It may seem harsh, but rules have to be in place to keep the forum a positive place free of animosity amongst its members.

Always a good one. Don't you agree, Deano? :dunce:

5) FOUL LANGUAGE – Cursing is not only ill-received by forum members it will also earn you a 3-day banning from the forum. If it continues you will receive a permanent ban period.

Guilty, sometimes! :sidestep:

6) DON’T BE AFRAID TO SPEAK YOUR MIND – This forum is made up of a diverse group of people with very different viewpoints. We all disagree at times, but that doesn’t stop us from saying what we believe. If someone says something that you don’t care for, don’t let it get under your skin. Try to keep a cool head and don’t let things bother you too much.
Also, keep an eye out for smilies (emoticons like these --> , etc...) and sarcasm. It can be easy to misinterpret someone's words online. Occasionally, members like to give one another a good-natured ribbing. Try to keep and open mind and not take it as a personal attack. More often than not, things are said in jest and not in a derogatory manner.

I hope I didn't miss any!

Wayne

Thanks very much for posting this thread. I've actually been very offended by some of the stuff I've read in some threads in this forum, to the point that I've stop clicking on things that aren't snake related. I think everyone has the right to their own opinion, and no one should feel insulted for having their own views on things. It's a shame, too, because otherwise I love the forum.

Name-calling and inflammatory b.s. will not be tolerated.

Acknowledged & happily accepted. No more insults or insinuated insults in response to previous name calling, insinuations, or even assumed name-calling that may or may not have been mistaken interpretation. Clean slate. I'm talking about my current and past actions and not implying anyone else has done the same.

I don't believe I've used any profanity stronger than "hell," so I don't feel like that one applies to me too much. Of course, I've been really mad recently and might have let something slip accidentally. HOWEVER, and I'm not bringing up any past posts specifically (clean slate and I meant it), but a better definition of what is and what is not profanity might be useful to all members of this site. I've seen lots of things over the past year that really strike me as profanity that is allowed to remain - and that has surprised me. The "line" really is blurred for me now. I'm NOT challenging how y'all moderate - I know how difficult it is. I'm not suggesting the rules get changed. That isn't my place. I know discretion is necessary, but SOME basis is required.

I'm simply making notice that I have no clue where the line happens to be. I would appreciate elucidation on the matter. I'm also asking about profanity IN GENERAL and not necessarily directed AT a specific person. That is part of why the line is so blurred to me.

Wayne and KJUN):

I wish I had clearly-defined answers for you. I don't. I think you guys know enough about logical fallacies to know that ad hominem attacks aren't valid. When I've asked for guidance regarding rules enforcement on this site, the answers have been somewhat vague. I guess that's because Rich wouldn't have appointed us if we were complete dumb-asses. (Report me, please!). I guess you're subject to my evil whims until Rich removes me. Challenge that at your peril. Maybe I'd just like to see a little increased civility around here. Or maybe I'm sick of investigating all the whiny-bitch complaints that come to me. :shrugs:
