Stopped Feeding

Medevil_Nuke

Hey everyone! So I've recently happily, and successfully (until recently) purchase two wonderful hatchlings and expanded my operation again from scratch; but strangely one of my snakes just stopped feeding normally.

He wouldn't eat last feed day nor would he today, so I'm really starting to worry since he's lost 2g of weight and he was only 13g to begin with!

What should I do to try fixing this? I've tried reheating his mice, leaving him alone in the dark with his food, and placing him in his feed box inside his tank. Why did he even start doing this?

Please help? ^^

Is he going to shed?

My new favorite thing to get babies to eat is boiled pinks. Thaw the pink in hot water, pour boiling water over it, serve boiling hot in a covered deli, don't peek for two hours. You may also slit the head and back crosswise several times.

That's the thing Nanci. I've tried boiling, braining, and hiding him with them. Also, he used to be a great eater until all but 11 days ago. I'm really starting to get worried.

Should I make his feeding bin smaller/larger? It's about the size of a shoebox now.

I'd feed him in a deli-cup sized container. I have a 30g baby eating in a deli cup!

Maybe try dish-soap washed? But really, at 11 days, it's not time to panic yet.

Thanks again Naci! I'll try that since it seems he's more content on trying to escape than eating. Do you think he'll get put off by the strange new eating container?

I think he would be fine in the container and what Nanci has suggested does work. I have a rescued anery that was eating crickets turn to mice today Using what Nanci suggested.

...and this is why I'm a member here with you awesome guys. =]

Though, I can't help but wonder. Why did this happen to him to begin with? I'm pretty sure that he wasn't in blue to begin with.

They can be blue long before your eyes can detect it...And a baby is going to shed every four weeks.

I have babies and adults that go into what I call pre blue. They are duller but their eyes aren't blue. Many will go off feed at that point and not eat again until they shed. Make sure you don't offer too often. No more than every 5-7 days. I don't feed babies more than once every 7 days anyway. They are good and hungry when I offer. 2 grams could be poop at this point, but I'm surprised there's much weight loss at all. They usually don't lose much just missing a meal or two...or four....
