Since I'm lazy at the moment, what is the difference among bull snakes, gopher snakes, and pine snakes? I grew up reading that they were different names for the same thing, but I'm thinking that this isn't really so?
Basicaly: Pine snakes are east coast, bull snakes mid west, and gopher snakes are west coast. I think there's 2 species between the 3, but they are all extremely similar. Like a corn snake and a rat snake.
Hiya, doing some research and reading this thread has brought up a question. Your posts seem to suggest feeding out side snakes home, which I was already considering to keep down its tendency to feed on fingers. Are there any precautions you need to take when moving the snake back to its cage after giving it a good meal? I know your not supposed to handle them for a few days after but it seems you must to some extent to put them back in their home.

I gently move the '06s over with my hands once I've got the feeding bin as close to the cage as I can get. For my little Gunn, I just put the feeding bin inside his cage, near a hide and tip it just slightly. He slithers out on his own and into the nearest hiding spot... most of the time.... sometimes he takes him time leaving it and then I just have to wait for it.

Mmmmmm we had a bull snake in Scottsdale that took up residence on the backporch every morning to soak up the sun... or at least that's what they said it was... the thing was huge And no, it wasn't a rattlesnake. We had those too, but this wasn't one of them
