stupid uth question?

i know this is gana sound stupid, but i couldnt find an answer to this anywhere on the site. Tight now i have 3 snake tanks, a 20L for my adult male with a heat light and uth, a 10g for my smaller adult female with a heat light (i know, 10 is small, but she isnt that big, i do plan on upgrading her to a 20L soon), and a 10g repti tank with a heat lamp and uth got my 3 hatchlings!! now my question, do they NEED the light on at night? or will the uth keep the tanks warm enough?

They don't NEED the light at all unless that is the only heat.
The UTH's will probably be too hot. You need some way to regulate the heat, either a thermostat or a rheostat.

10g is small for an adult...but as long as you are upgrading her :)
I am going to suggest you put the three hatchlings in separate enclosures...unless they are in their OWN 10g, but that's not what it sounded like...
On some rare occasions babies will eat eachother, and if they don't do that, they are surely way too stressed having 3 in one tank....
Now, three tanks w/lids will run you a bit of $$$, and since they grow at a decent rate you may look into tubs...or even the plastic "faunarium" things you can find in a petshop...about $11 bucks a piece...
Just a suggestion, take it or leave it :) :)

I was going to respond, but after I read through this I swear I read the word 'turtle' and 'turtle tank' in your original post. I think I'm losing my mind!

ya

Right now the 3 babies are all in one 10 gallon tank. i have them together because i dont plan on keeping them too long, maybee till the second feeding maybee. i got friends and family lined up that want to take them.

Did you hatch the three little ones? You can't cohab a snake period no matter how long the duration is for breeding time being the only exception and even then they are taken out once copulation is noted. They do not need the heat lamps being you have the UTH I hope only on one side of the tank as they need a cool side. What are your temps on each end of the tank? Optimal temps are between 72-76 on the cool side and 80-85 on the warm side. You should have hides at each end so your snakes can decide what temps they want to be at and you do need at the very least a rheostat to control the UTH's as they get in the 100's on their own. A temp gun is also a must have IMHO to spot check though thermostats w/ probes are also good to have. I hope if these little ones are going to new homes after only two feedings your friends and family know how to properly care for them!!!
