Substrate Thickness...

I use aspen for my substrate and was wondering how thick it should be. I started out with about 2" and dropped down to about 1/2" (so that I could see my snake occaisionally). This is for my hatchling. The substate (also aspen) for my yearling is about 3/4".

For those that use a substate, how thick do you have it?

Thanks

Mine is probably about an inch thick for my new corn. He's a hatchling. But I don't have a hide for him yet so I made it a little thicker for him

It depends on you heating really. All my snakes are on asphen exsept the BRB, and it depends on how much heat is getting through. If the temp's for your corns is around 84 then its fine is it's cooler then 80 i woould take 1/8 or an inch a dday till it is around that mark. one of my corns is on 1 inch asphen and the other is on 3/4 inch thick asphen as he's got a slightly smaller viv and heatmat.

Hi There!
I have the thickness of the aspen- about 1- 1 1/2 inches deep- it's deep enough for them to burrow- shallow enough for me to keep track of them
:)
