trouser snake
i just got my first corn so i dont know if i what type of substrate to use- it is a candy cane so i kinda want somthing dark so i can see it better- any segustions :shrugs:

I have recently started using Repti Bark and I like it a lot. Especially with the brighter snakes. It really shows them off! Most people will probably vote for Aspen, with plenty of good reason, it's highly absorbent, stays dry, meshes together to form tunnels as the snakes burrow through it and it's economical compared to some of the others. I have used Care Fresh , Aspen and Repti bark all without problems. Just remember not to feed on the substrate

I use reptile bark too. Its what the guy I bought my snake from told me to use. I've only had him about a month but so far so good. No problems yet. But I do watch my snake eat because I feed him on a plate in his tank. Don't want him eating any bark. Although on the back of the bag it does says its safe if ingested. But I don't think that counts for snakes. Because right under that it says "its always safest to feed snakes in a seperate container without substrate"
