Um, no, that was a cupboard. According to the Miriam-Webster Online Dictionary, there is no such word as cubbard, at least not in English.

As for the cupboard backing or contact paper, I can think of disadvantages. It would have to be not only cleaned, but disinfected several times a week as bacteria seem to cling to vinyl or plastic. It does not absorb either moisture or smell. The snake cannot follow its natural instinct to burrow. To me, it is no different from using reptile carpet or astro turf.
