Hooked for life!!
Well I did as all of you advised and didn't soak the pinkies so long in the hot water..I even made sure the water wasn't all that hot this time..so now this time the pinkies came out whole and not in the form of a juice all over the bottom of the feeding tank..After she ate the first one and I saw her starting to search the bottom of the tank I put a second in (it also came out of the baggie whole :0)) and she ate the second one as well...that was the first time I fed her two pinkies in one feeding but since she ate both I'm assuming it was the right choice to make..well I'll keep everyone updated...also..I haven't seen any signs of her getting ready to shed and I've had her almost 3 weeks now..should I be worried?? and I haven't seen any sign of feces or anything of her going to the bathroom..any advice why this may be?? well thanks everyone for the advice..thanks to you all she was able to eat a whole pinkie tonight and not some torn up juice mess..heh.. :)

Don't worry about the shed, if a snake isn't growing very fast they won't shed too often. Expect on in the next few weeks. As for feces, usually they will poop about once per feeding, sometimes more often when they are small. If you don't see any but the snake is still eating and not looking really bloated then it may be pooping out of site under the substrate or something.

I wouldn't judge by the behavior as to whether or not you should feed two. I have snakes that will eat until they burst. They are opportunistic and will eat whatever is presented. If the pinky didn't leave a lump, then a second one would be in order. If you ended up with a large lump, you may want to stick to one.

When you are "soaking" your pinkies are you puting them in a plastic bag while you do it? I have heard that if you puting them directly in the water that the nutrients seep out into the water and the "food" isn't as beneficial for the snake. Maybe someone else has a different opinion but that is what I have heard.

Cant say I've ever heard of that....I defrost mine then warm slightly in warm water in a bag.....and my guys have always grown like weeds....

Hmm, I've never heard of that either. My snakes would be the size of boa constrictors if that was true! They are all well over 4 ft. and eat rat pups....and that's thawed in hot water directly every week......

I've been putting the pinkies in warm water while they were still in their little plastic baggies they come in...Although I do want to try just thawing them throughout the day and then just warming them up with water and see how that goes..as for the bump being big or not...I don't really remember now if the bump after the first one was big or not...but when I fed her the second one I know the bump was definitely there and she seemed more content...I don't know if I had made the right choice or not but we'll see on her next feeding... :shrugs:
