This is my first corn snake, tentatively called Promethia. She was a rescue 6 months ago, (http://cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68671 for story and more pics) so I don't know her genetics but have been trying to figure out what morph she is. I at first thought Amel Motley but as she has been getting brighter and more red and orange with each shed, I am now thinking Sunglow Motley. I am relatively new to corn snakes and all my "knowledge" comes from voraciously devouring information from this forum and practically memorizing Kathy Love's "Corn Snake Manual" (yay :) )as well as extensive web surfing. All the definitions of Sunglow I have found can be summed up as "no-white amel." Promethia has no white except for her beautiful motley stomach and has very intense reds and oranges. I now ask this distinguished and august forum for their educated and experienced opinion(s)/guess(es). ;) Thanks in advance!!!

I would say she's a very pretty amel motley. Nice bright one but not bright enough to be considered sunglow. :)

It is true, sunglows have littler or no white but I don't think that applies to Motleys as I have yet to see a regular amel motley with much white on them, if any.
 
Sunglows are amels lacking white, but also have very intense colors. Your snake is still young, so it might develop brighter colors as it grows. Even if it doesn't, it's a very nice little amel. :bird:

Motley has a hypo effect, I'm not sure all amel motleys that happen to lack white should be called sunglow - sunglow has a selectively bred component to it, and many sunglow motleys wouldn't even be close to sunglow if they were not motley.

Poppycorns has at least one sunglow motley that will knock your socks off, and in my opinion clearly shows the difference between a sunglow motley and an amel motley that lacks white due to the motley effect.

The post of Susan's amel motley is a good example... but I personally think this guy is bright enough to be considered one.

Beautiful snake Kimbyra, looks alot like my Amel hurricane motley (though she is younger and het caramel, so she won't ever have saddles that red :) ). I meant that I haven't seen Amel motleys with white borders (if any for that matter), I have seen many with creamy/white background colours. :)

Not trying to hijack...

Aurora, my amel banded motley girl is a lot "whiter" than the pic, since she was in shed at the time. I really need to get a camera and post an updated/accurate pic of her. She is amazing. She's 2+ years old now, and never developed any orange creeping in. Oddly enough, she IS actually het caramel, which makes her even neater to me. I'll be breeding her with my male butter next year if her weight is good enough. I have a very pretty "sunglow" male (Vesuvius) that I just consider just an amel (he's not motley) because, even though he has no white, he has pumpkiny shades not dayglo-like.

BTW, You have a very pretty amel Velvet!
 
BTW, what do you mean by "white borders... not background"? I'm not picturing it, but some days my mind works better than others.
