sunglow or not?? help

We are feeding them about a med-med large fuzzies the two that you can really notice it is the two smaller ones we have. The others you can tell they have eaten. But the two little ones look huge sometimes. They never come out so we only feed them once every two weeks. At the end of that second week they usually know its feeding day. Do you think we should feed every week instead?

Yes, if they are hatchlings or juveniles, they will ulilize the food intake for growing and should be fed a substantial meal at least once a week, if not slightly more. But when they are fully-grown and mature, they don't need as many calories to sustain a proper body weight, and then can be given food less often according to their needs.

Ok got ya. It's just that they never do anything till the end of that second week when they know its time to eat. Other then that they all stay in their trees or hides and don't even come out at nite to see what's going on. Lazy little butts anyway.

Yeah, lift up whatever they are hiding under, or on, and offer a meal on the end of a pair of tongs, and they will perk up..LOL!

Remember though, the snakes have to have a cool end and warm end to thermoregulate, Cool end allows them to conserve energy and weight, and they need the warm side to properly digest their meals, or they can often regurgitate. This is VERY important for their well-being.

Yeah they have a warm side and cool side but one usually hides in a tree all the time. And there for awhile our one was regurging every week that's also why we cut down to twice a month. And he's hasn't done it since. And they all like to hide under the bedding all over the place.

ooooh, that's not a good sign. There is a problem with the husbandry involved when they regurge.

possibilities....

1) too cool

2) too warm

3) too stressed

4) bad bacterial activity in the gut

5) a possible combination of any of these.

This is why it is best to house snakes seperately so you can pin-point problems like this. Also, it doesn't jeopardize the other snake's health if one gets sick.

Also, if it is stressed from being with the others, it might not want to utilize the warm area where the others might already be. It's hard for me to say without seeing the precise setup, but if the snake was in a smaller container with a cool side in the 70's and warm side in the 80's, it would be far easier to make tweeks in the individual conditions. Also in a larger cage with lots of plants, substrate and cage furniture, it's hard to locate regurges or even know about them to fix.
