Suprise!!!!

I got a suprise today from a co-worker! A 2 week old baby corn. I have 2 corns but when I got them they were established and not so little! This guy/girl has never eaten and I was wondering how you get them to start to eat. Do you feed them just the head? Any advise would be helpful, at the moment he is sitting under my desk w/ a paper towel wrapped around him so my big feet don't scare him. When I get home I need to do some cleaning and re-arranging to get him into a home.

I am not good w/ the morphs since they are just pets to me and I don't plan on breeding so I will have to get some pictures after I get him established (eating)

Thanks in advance!!!!!

Kelly

Wow--that is a surprise!! What did your coworker say about the snake? Did the snake refuse to eat? Did your coworker breed the snake?
My coworkers only surprise me with schedule changes.

He didn't know much, he got it from a friend. It hasn't eaten yet, I don't know what she did to try to get it to eat. Her snakes were co-habed together, I know extremely bad, I guess no one was very ovservant because she found eggs in their home and thought they were bad and picked them up to throw them away and they crumbled and out came several babies!!!! So I don't know if this little one will even survive but I am going to try!!! He is beautiful, he is orange w/ kinda the blood red head, no markings on it. he is just so tiny. The good news he is very active and alert and not timid.

K, I knew not to handle him, now I will keep him in a critter keeper partially over a UTH, if I use paper towels for substrate can I start by feeding him in there until I get him started then start feeding in a seperate container like I do with my other snakes.

WOW, how long were the eggs in the tank without her seeing them? I thought it took MONTHS for them to incubate! There are lots of people here with good advice about getting new hatchlings to eat, you can do a search and try some of the ideas and then see what others have to suggest!

I did too!!! Since he made it this far w/out incubation etc.. Hopefully is a sign that he will be a hardy little guy

i would highly recommend using a thermostat if its on a UTH. Depending on how large the hatchling is i would probalby recommend trying live first, just so u can get it feeding (if live is easily accessable) ... i'd also search the site :)

pics of "suprise"

He has settled in nicely in hi new home. He is very alert and active.

I can never find live babies in town, so today I threw a head and him into a dixie cup and they are chillin inside of his home. Before placing him back I took pictures of him. What morph do you think he is?

He is eating!!!!!

He is eating!!!!!! I am doing a happy dance!!!!!!!! :dancer: I have been worried that he wasn't going to make it!!!!!!!!!

Shoot- do you know what to do? When you go to feed again, I guess I'd do half a head...Do you have Nutribac??
