switch from live to F/T?

wasuslitherin

WARNING: I can be.....
I just got a '06(?) Opal male that only eats live. He is my only snake that does this. I fed him a live mouse last night, not only did it bite him, I dont like having to feed the poor thing to him.
So what can I do to switch him over to F/T? (I have tried F/T before... He constricted it, then took it into his hide and "played" with it. Tore the stomache open... the guts were all hanging out... Gross.)
I was told to take a live mouse, thump it on the ground, then see if he will eat it. Then after he takes that.. use a Frozen mouse, put it in a baggie, then the baggie in hot water so that it doesn't get its smell washed away at all.
Is there any other way?So that I dont have to pre-kill the mouse first? (All around animal lover, no matter how small or big:)

Feed him the live mouse first and then give him a thawed one while he eats the first one and go away and leave him alone.

I'd try a fresh-killed first. Hold the head and pull back on the tail- that is the humane way to kill it. Then I'd try a F/t, blow-dried to really hot. Or- you could try rat pinks or fuzzies. FT.
