Switch to Aspen?

Hi, I currently am using a reptibark/shavings type of substrate for my hatchling...but everything I've read is about using Aspen shavings...Should I switch him, now that he just finally starting to explore?
What are the pros and cons to the two substrates?
I will post a picture shortly of the substrate I currently am using. Thanks!!

I just did exactly that and I'm well happy with the results.

Easier to see poop and spot clean it, it seems to localise the poop more and absorbs it better. Looks just fine in my opinion, maybe not quite as natural as reptibark but perfectly OK. No bugs in it. All the snakes have taken to it quite happily and it's better for burrowing.

Even at exorbitant UK prices (aspen is not so easy to get over here), it still works out more cost-effective than reptibark.

Go for it I say!

:)

Here are the pics...
Ps: I do feed in a separate container, so nothing it ingested.

OK, but will this scare my snake back to his shyful self from when I got him a couple weeks ago? Obviously, hard to tell how snake will react...but I don't want to cause more of a problem than I'm solving!

Mine didn't seem bothered by the change in the slightest.

If anything, they seem to prefer it for the reasons above.

Thats everything from a 14 year old to a hatchling. All previously on reptibark (although the hatchlings only for a few weeks as they're only a few weeks old ... lol).

Thanks a lot! I'll look into the switch here in a short time... just finished feeding, so maybe come Monday (4 days) I'll make the switch.
Would you recommend holding off on feeding after the switch, or should I continue with my 5 day feeding sched?

I didn't alter my feeding schedule at all.

Didn't have any problems .... they all scoffed down their mice as usual. :)

OK, found some aspen litter at the pet store. I'm planing on the switch being this upcoming Monday! Thanks again!
