Like my other thread; this is about my new snake. He rattled his tail alot at me the other day, and he is very speedy, and not used to touch yet obviously. How long does it generally take a new snake to calm down, and realize you arent going to hurt him. I play with him everyday for about a half hour. I know its different for all snakes, but is their an average time frame?

Different snakes have different personalities, sometimes they like to rattle their tails... it could either be a warning sign like, stay away from me, or it could just be that hes scared... You said he was new, so you might want to let him get acclimated to his environment and the smells and sounds of your household, usually about 5 days or so is the time frame ive heard been recommended to others... i know its hard to resist your new pet, but its best to make sure he is comfortable!

My almost a year old Reverse Okeetee rattled her tail at me for the first time the other day. She was in her 2nd day of digestion and definetly did not appreciate my checking her viv for a regurge. It took me by such surprise and I just had to laugh. Though she did get her point across very well.

I got a lavender a little over a week ago who rattles her tail, strikes and hisses. If she's like my others I got as hatchlings, she'll figure in a month or 2 that she's not a part of my food chain and will settle in.

honestly, i woke up this morning, and checked on him and i decided to give him a liltte play time. So i pickled him out of his cage , and it was like he calmed down in less than 24 hours. No rattles, no speeding away, or anything like that. He wanted to be played with!!!! The only thing i noticed that scares him is when i move too quick; he gets suprised then realizes its me. I know hes not already tame, but it was a good night for him!
