hello everyone. my albino snow corn, norbie is currently in a ten gallon terrarium. he is pretty young, though i am not sure of his exact age, definitely under a year though. i have a warm side and a cool side in his tank, the cool side has a piece of drift wood, some branches and a cave. i have his water bowl on the warm side and it is the side that i keep his heat lamp on. he is certainly content with the size of his enclosure for right now, he has plenty of room to play and get exercise. i'm just curious about when i should upgrade to a larger tank for my snake? when he begins to grow or should i do it now to assure better temparature control so that his cool side actually remains cool. right now i think the shade is the only provider of cool for him because the tank is small and the lamp most likely heats up the whole thing pretty successfully. i notice that sometimes when his day light is on he often hides under his waterbowl and then at night when i turn it off he comes out and relaxes on his vine. are corns nocturnal or is he too hot during the day? also, is a night glow lamp necessary? i used it during the winter because my room got very cold at night, but now it's warming up in jersey so i'm assuming it's not as necessary?
