Hey guys. Im looking to get a baby corn snake and i was wondering if a 10 gallon glass fishtank is big enough? The demensions are 20"Long 10 1/2"Wide 12"Tall. Thanks

It'll be all right for a few months but before long you're going to have to get that 20 L (or bigger).
These things sure grow quickly :)

Yeah, this size tank will do you until the snake is just over two feet long. At that point, you'll have to buy a three foot by one and a half foot viv.
Neil

i found that a 55 gallon tank is good and cheap only $100 at petsmart i wouldn't get anything smaller just for the snakes sake cause corns like to move around alot especially at night time

well my dad is giving me this tank because he used to have fish in it. So its going to cost me nothing. So I'll save up for a bigger tank later.

Baby corns must be housed in small(ish) vivariums because large, open areas stress them out. Only move up to a 55 gallon when the snake has grown sufficiently.

Hey Neil,
I dont know if I agree with the small tank for baby snakes thing, I never have.
There must be alot of stressed out baby snakes in the wild.
I think that it should not matter what size the viv is as long as you have enough hides to provide the feeling of secourity for the snake. With a 55 gal tank for a baby snake I would have at least 6 hides. IMHO
I just know that when I get up in the middle of the night that all my Corns are all over their vivs. Babies and adults. So I am glad that I gave them the extra space.
IMHO, Jimmy C.

thanks jimmy c to agreeing with me my corns love to search around the tank and my tank looks like a real wooded area and they seem like they have no problem with a big tank
they love to come out especially at night i walk in my room and they're climbing the trees and going all over the place

i don't agree with keeping a corn in a small enclosed tank

i have 6 hiding places for them in my tank and they stay in different ones all the time

my corns love the space
i'm going to build an extra tank and put the tank i already have on top of that to make it taller because they love to climb

Itll be ok for now,but when it gets to where it cant fully stretch out,its time to get a bigger tank!!
