Tank Size?

Tennessee

Is 24 x 12 x 9 a good size tank for a corn snake?

How much of its life could it live in this environment?

Thanks

I think that a 5 might be too big if it is just a hatchling, but once it is atleast one year old you can move it into there. it is not too big for an adult.

Even bettter... put a divider down the middle, and the you can keep two snakes :grin01:

A 55 gal would be fine as long as you have lots of hides and stuff in there. The way I judge is that the hatchling shouldn't have to go farther than one half to one body length to find another hide.

If you are going to go with a smaller size, get a 30L rather than a 29 gallon. Snakes are terrestrial and floor space is more important than height. A 29 g will work, but the extra height is not necessary.

ok thanks, these tanks are free so, which would be better the 55 or 29, I might have others to choose from, don't know yet. The biggest thing would be finding a lid for the 55 if it doesn't come w/ one, it does have a custom stand

Tennessee, you can find a screen top for your tank at any Petsmart/PetCO type store. Or if you check the internet, there are many sellers. 55g is 48"x13". I have a 60g... originally an aquarium, but it's measurements are 48"x15". I took 2 55g screen tops, cut them down the metal, welded the 2 together and have a nice snug top for my setup. However that was really off topic and to answer your question, 55g tops are not too hard to find.
