I just started using a hide box and at first Indy (the snake) loved it, but recently she's been lying inbetween the box and the side of the tank ( I use a heat lamp on the opposite side of the tank). I'm worried that her tank may be too warm and she's trying to be as cool as possible by doing this even though she's out in the open instead of hidden. She seems to only do this when it's been a while since she last ate, so I'm also thinking she could just be hungry. Your thoughts?
 
Have you tried using a thermometer to check the temps? The new Amel Stripe I have had for just a week doesn't use either hide in his tank, but prefers to just hang out in a plant that is on the side of his tank or stretch out along the edge of the tank on the aspen. And I know the temps are perfect for him.
 
Ah yes, I forgot to mention I have yet to get a thermometer...I better head out to the store tomorrow.
 
Well, as soon as you get one, you'll be able to answer your own question. Without temps, even the most experienced people on this forum wouldn't be able to tell you a thing about whether you're snake is too warm or not.
