Tap Water Vs. Bottled

I've seen this subject on different forums several times over the years. You will get answers all across the board. Some folks will only use sparkling water imported from France. I think it doesn't make any difference what you use. In the wild, they take what the get and do fine. Chlorine might be a concern but even that can't really be a big deal.

This has been discussed in depth a few times here, and opinions vary. It depends A LOT on your location. Some areas of the country have really crummy tap water, and some great.

what i use is zepherhills(dnt care about spelling) 5 gallon jug.last a real long time you can find it at walmart.

The chlorine shouldn't be a problem because it evaporates out of the water pretty quickly and snakes don't drink a lot at a time. Has anyone done any studies on fluoridated water? I would be more concerned about that. We use well water, so neither is a problem, but we used to have fluoridated tap water. I didn't notice any problems---maybe long term?

i use tap water that i set next to his cage in a big pitcher, helps get some of the chlorine out of the water, although i dont think it harm's them in any way.

Believe my local tap water has flourine added - my 20 year old has done OK on it.

I've been using tap water for the whole time i've been keeping snakes (8 years), and never had a problem with it.
However, I do live in Holland, and it's my understanding that our tap water is one of the cleanest in the world.
I have to agree with Kymbira, it totally depends on the location you're living at.

I also use tap water, but it's always been sitting in a big jug for at least a few days, with no lid. This is easiest for us, since we also have fish and a frog that we use it for. Never had a problem here either.

A lot of people seem to use tap water without problems. Personally i can get a crate of 35 bottles of spring water for £3, so i just stick to that :)

Clearly.

Anyway, I use bottled water because my tap water is weird. For example, whenever I take a shower or wash the dishes my skin gets really red and it looks like burns. Dunno, but I don't want my snakes drinking it.
If you know you tap water is OK, then use it, if not, you might want to use bottled. This is my opinion, of course, other might say different...

I use tap water with reptisafe conditioner. Its something I read I needed when researching corns and Ive just stuck with it.

Look, I would pay for the ever-lasting $.50 gallon of water at Wally World just for peace of my paranoid mind.

I've wondered about this, too. We have a Brita filter on our kitchen tap, so that's what I use for the snakes.
