i live on the top floor of my apt. and during the summer i'm having trouble keeping the temp. of my tank low enough for my baby corn. is there any easy way to drop the temp a few degrees? also, how can i tell the sex of the corn? the pet store couldn't tell me.
 
How Hot Does It Get?? Do You Have A Thermometer? The Only Time I Would Worry Is If It Stays Above 90degrees For Too Long Of Time. Is There A Room In The House That Stays Cooler Than The Rest? Try Putting The Tank On The Floor Since Heat Rises. Be Sure To Have Clean Fresh Water At All Times.....he/she Might Be Able To Cool Off In The Water Bowl If It Gets Too Hot.

As Far As Sexing The Snake. Take It To An Experienced Shop And Have Them Probe It For You. Where Ever You Live There Might Be A Knowledable Person That Could Do That For You. If Not Look For A Good Reptile Vet Online In Your Neck Of The Woods:)

yup..i do have a thermometer...the temp is pretty much constant @ 88. so i guess it's not too bad...i'll try putting it on the floor though- thanks for the advice!

great!!!!! I think 88 is just fine. The floor might drop the degrees by 1 or 2. It should help though. I'm not sure if you have the CORN SNAKE MANUEL BY KATHY LOVE, but it's a great tool to have when anyone has cornsnakes. you can buy it online at her website cornutopia.com

Well, 88 is the high end of the ideal temperature range. It would be better if you could have a lower temp in the viv as well, to allow your beastie to thermoregulate. I can't offer advice from personal experience - high temperatures aren't something we have too much of a problem with in the UK! Can you set up a fan outside the viv, but near one end? That might take down the ambient temps around that end of the viv and give the heat gradient that you need.
