I have a heating pad under the tank on one side, the hot one. Its 80 degrees. But I don't have 2 thermometers so I don't know the cold side. I have a heating lamp too but I tried it and it was like 88 degrees, so I took it off. Is 80 degrees fine on the hot side?

80 degrees is a little too cool for the warm side. It should be about 85 degrees, right on top of the substrate. Your thermometer is probably a bit higher than that, and so it would show a somewhat lower temperature.
